AI Soul Map started from a simple frustration: most "AI companion" lists are just SEO keyword collections that rerank the same trending apps, without anyone having actually used them long enough to know what breaks after a week. We do the opposite—we spend real time inside each product before writing a word about it.

Quality before fit.
A feature match is not a recommendation. Before a product can appear in results, we open it ourselves, use it under realistic conditions, and check whether it holds up over multiple sessions—not just a first impression. Products that fall short stay out of the catalog instead of being padded in to hit a bigger number.

We explain who a product actually works for and where it falls short, instead of crowning one universal winner.
Freshness is quality
AI products change their pricing, policies and behavior often. Every fact carries a last-checked date, and stale facts get re-verified or pulled.
Trust over monetization
Some outbound links are affiliate links. That relationship is disclosed and never decides whether a product gets listed, how it ranks, or what we say about it.
Who is behind this
AI Soul Map is run by a small, hands-on editorial team. We use research tools to track changes and organize evidence, but every published conclusion—what a product is good at, who it suits, when it should be avoided—is written and signed off by a person who actually tested it, not generated automatically.
A focused first release
Our first release deliberately covers a narrow slice: AI companionship, relational conversation, emotional reflection, philosophy, character experiences and voice. We would rather cover this well in English and Japanese than cover everything shallowly. Public Adult-only discovery remains disabled.
CORRECTIONS
Corrections are part of the method.
Products change fast, and we expect to get some details wrong or out of date. If something on a page looks off, send us the page URL, what looks wrong, and any evidence you have. High-risk errors get reviewed and corrected quickly.
